Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea Cow Guide: Care & Milk

The short answer

Your first calf arrives after Doug repairs the barn at the end of the prologue. For ordinary Milk before it matures, buy it from Richard at Bloomfield General Store for 500G.

Get your first calf

At the end of the prologue, Doug repairs the barn. Your childhood friend brings a newborn calf the following day as a gift for your new farm. Name it to finish the introduction.

You also receive a Pitchfork, Old Sickle, Brush, Clippers and Milker. Keep the Milker for when the calf is old enough to produce milk.

Feed and care for your cow

  • Put weeds or grass into the barn’s Feeder Machine to make feed and refill the troughs.
  • Allow one portion of feed per animal each day.
  • Use the Brush to clean your cow and the Pitchfork to clean the barn.
  • Use the bell in front of the barn to send animals outside or bring them back.
  • Once the cow matures, use the Milker to collect milk.

When does the first calf produce Milk?

The calf given during the story grows faster to keep the opening chapter moving: it matures after about three days. Keep caring for it while you wait. This accelerated timing applies to that first story calf, rather than every calf you buy or breed later.

Get Milk for Jane without waiting

If you need ordinary Milk for the first Bloomfield chapter, visit Richard at Bloomfield General Store and buy it for 500G. This lets you continue without waiting for the calf to grow.

Buy the item named Milk for that request. Do not assume a special cow’s differently named milk will satisfy the same item requirement.
