Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea Befriending a Horse: Taming & Whistles

The short answer

Find a horse across the lake south of Bloomfield. Crouch to approach, pet it, and offer food such as Mushrooms over repeated visits. Adopt it when it becomes completely tamed, then assign a whistle in the barn’s animal book.

Find the horse herd

Leave Bloomfield through the southern exit and look across the lake for horses in Bloomfield Plains / Wildflower Road. Make room in your barn before bringing one home.

Return to the same horse

  1. Crouch to approach a horse without startling it.
  2. Pet it and offer food; Mushrooms are an early option.
  3. Come back to the same horse on later days and keep interacting.
  4. Watch for the “completely tamed” message and the question asking whether you want to take the horse home.
  5. Choose Yes, then name your horse.

Four golden musical notes can appear above a Brown Horse before its adoption prompt. Use the actual taming and take-home messages as your decision point, rather than counting a fixed number of days or applying that note count to every animal.

Assign a Horse Whistle

At the barn’s animal book, choose your rideable animal and assign it to a whistle slot. There are four slots available.

Use the Horse Whistle to start riding. You can also approach a nearby owned mount and use its ride prompt. To choose among assigned mounts, hold the mount-selection control, select with the right stick, and release. Follow your platform’s displayed control icons for the selection button.

Keep your daily route practical

A horse can take several visits to befriend. Pet and feed it as part of your daily routine, then carry on with crops or story requests while friendship builds. This route uses a wild horse, so you do not need to wait for a horse gift event to begin.
